Staff Team
Senior Minister
Andrew started leading the team at Christchurch in September 2009. He is passionate about building healthy churches, where people with no church background can explore and meet Jesus, and take ‘next steps’ in their spiritual journey towards being a wholehearted follower of Christ! He loves teaching the timeless truths of God’s Word in ways that are culturally relevant and applicable to daily living.
He is married to Lorraine and has three boys. Ask him why he runs the Great South Run whenever he can and why he still supports Portsmouth FC!
Minister
Simon joined the staff team in August 2014. He oversees various ministry areas, including The Alpha Course, Worship, Youth ministry, and supports Andrew in the overall leadership of the church. He gets excited when people with no connection to church take steps towards God, and is passionate about communicating the good news of Jesus in creative ways. He is a governor of a local primary school, and the administrator for the Churches in Welwyn GC group. He is married to Sam, and they have three little smashers. In his spare time he sings at local pubs and parties, and also loves cycling on his day off.
Parish Nurse
Barbara works one day a week, usually Tuesdays, as a Parish Nurse. She is happy to chat to any who attend church or church events about their own health, or the health of others they care for or are concerned about. Her desire is to help individuals stay physically, mentally and spiritually healthy and equipped to deal with illness or disability. She can help you to access appropriate services or find helpful information.
She is a registered nurse, so follows the Nursing & Midwifery Council Code of Practice, and is very careful to maintain confidentiality at all times. She is linked to Parish Nursing Ministries UK (www.parishnursing.org.uk).
Administrator
Catherine started attending Christchurch through its youthwork and started regularly attending as a teenager.
She has been working in the office since 2005 and having lived in WGC since a toddler, she is often called the 'fount of all knowledge' - a term she doesn't shirk from by making sure she knows what is going on at all times!
Children & Families Ministry Leader
Claire has been part of Christchurch since 2012 and joined the staff team in 2021. Claire loves working with children and their families and has a background in education. Whenever she can, she loves to share God’s truths with children in creative ways, whether that’s with Lego, playdough, or using something messy!
When she gets a spare moment she enjoys relaxing at a spa and going for a coffee (except without the coffee) as she’s not a fan of hot drinks!
Caretaker
Stefan started working for the church on his birthday in August 2012, and he is thankful to the Lord for the opportunity to look after the church's property. His engagement gives him a greater chance to get to know Christ and make Him known to the others. Stefan loves playing the guitar and learning new worship songs.
